What is the difference between rigid boxes and folding cartons?
Rigid boxes are constructed from chipboard 3–4 times thicker than folding carton stock (1200–2500 GSM vs 300–600 GSM). They hold their shape permanently, ship pre-assembled, and deliver a luxury unboxing experience. Folding cartons ship flat and are assembled at the packing line they cost less per unit but offer lower perceived value. Rigid boxes are the standard for premium products; folding cartons are better suited for high-volume FMCG packaging.
